54Lights is on a bold mission to broadcast stories and perspectives from Africans in diaspora… to the world.

Creatively designed, passionately produced and curated for (and from) the community, the show is devoted to showcasing the continent, its people and its allies.

As a Podcast ——

It's an intriguing way of bringing culture to people's auditory doorsteps.

As a Movement ——

It's an innovative way to rewrite, reclaim and reshape narratives around people of colour.

This Project ——

Finds inspiration from Africans but it is not exclusively for Africans. It is about embracing uniqueness (like Africa’s 54 nation states) while illuminating the qualities that unite us all. We’ll do this through conversation that’s sometimes painful, often playful and, hopefully, always interesting.

KONDWANI MWASE

By Day & Beyond

Kondwani is a strategist with over a decade's experience in customer engagement and consumer loyalty. He has used his skills to cultivate meaningful relationships with people (and their communities) and forge impactful partnerships (with businesses and associations). As a leader, he's as much a doer as he is a listener.

By day (and sometimes beyond it) Kondwani is the Executive Director of Audience Engagement at Canada’s National Arts Centre

WORK IN PROGRESS

By Night & Light

Kondwani is a producer, entrepreneur and aspiring creative. He is the catalyst behind 54Lights - a living experiment designed to  reshape the African experience. Prior to birthing this podcast, Kondwani led a team of bold builders to create The Warehouse Magazine. It was his first foray (into media) and his first love. And while that eventually fizzled, his fire for creating, unifying and listening never did.

And so, by night (and light)...Kondwani is the host and exec producer of 54Lights.

AND THEN THERE’S MORE…

Kondwani is Ethiopian-born, Canadian-raised and proudly Malawian. He’s a Pan-Africanist, a dreamer and a storyteller whose enthusiasm for his guests is (hopefully) palpable.
